As a consequence of physical isolation, the Bilijie project began as a method of processing the relentless solitude of living in lockdown New York through the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This emotionally chaotic period has been accompanied by an exponential increase in Scam Architecture--a seemingly unending stream of lies, false narratives, hacks, exploitation and gaslighting. In his first solo release, Lin explores this breakdown of trust and the increasing difficulty of identifying what is real.

With weeping, cavernous pulses and blasted synthesizer noise, Distortions can be described as bipolar, some tracks lifting to Icarian heights, while others dive deep underground. Ever-present is a tension between the rational/irrational, between passion and reason, which is central to Lin's work and life.
